If you receive an email asking you to sign up for a bank account or credit card via email because your privacy is at risk or just to get a free gift or something: BE CAREFUL! Do not register via the web address provided in the email.

If email worries you, visit your bank or credit card website using an address you already know or by searching in search engines.

How does this scam work? Email senders know there will only be a handful of signups, but that’s all they need. When you sign up at the fake internet address, they have your username and password. Now it’s time for them to party!

If you receive an email saying that they represent an African, Gulf or even former Russian leader, senior official or businessman who has passed away or is missing: BE CAREFUL!

They offer you a chance to win between one and five percent of ten to fifty million. And only for your cooperation.

Don’t get sucked into this because even though they are talking about giving you money, they will receive the money and from your account. How does this scam work?

They will ask you for your bank details to transfer money and then they will use it to transfer a small amount.

Now, once you trust them, they will ask you for more personal and secure information because they “need” that information to transfer all funds to and from your account. What they won’t tell you is that they will transfer all the money from your account: theirs and yours.
