Social Determinants That Influence Peoples Well-Being
Social determinants that affect peoples well-being. There are several factors, both social and environmental, that influence human well-being. One of the most important, however, is social stigma. This is the prejudice or stereotype that someone with a certain lifestyle or personality has about themselves, which may not be based in fact, and is often very negative and damaging.
People living with a history of social discrimination have lower levels of mental and physical health than those who do not have. Even though it may seem unfair to think of such a large group of people as a “population” of undeserving victims, these negative associations and stereotypes can keep people from achieving their full potential.
The main reason that people with a history of social stigma have such a poor mental health is that they are constantly exposed to negative views and stereotypes about their background and personality. It is much easier to let negative feelings and thoughts of inadequacy control our lives and turn them into habits than it is to let them pass and get out of control.
When people start thinking that they are less capable than others, and that the world is against them, they will begin to feel negative about themselves. This feeling of inadequacy is the beginning of the cycle of low self-esteem that leads to a lack of confidence, and eventually to depression. If people are constantly feeling unworthy, they will start to have unrealistic expectations and will be unable to accept that life can sometimes go wrong.
So how can social stigma be reduced? There are a number of things that you can do, but the best way to help yourself is to first acknowledge that you have a background of social stigma, then learn how to deal with it.
Once you know that you have a history of social stigma, the next thing that you need to do is to take steps to remove it. You need to work to change your negative associations about yourself. Then you should work on changing the negative associations about other people.
It is important to remember that you are the only one who can do this for yourself. You cannot be another person’s voice to give yourself a boost. Instead, you need to do it for yourself by learning how to listen to yourself and accept that you have a problem. Only then can you begin to find ways to deal with the situation.
People who live with a background of social stigma have learned to be ashamed of themselves. They feel that they are somehow different from other people because of their social stigma. This feeling of shame and inferiority makes it much more difficult to take positive action than it would be if they were not embarrassed at all.
Stigma and other negative attitudes about yourself are something that you can change. If you are ashamed of your past, then you can begin to get rid of it! Take action now and take control of your life.
